The Outsiders Project 2012
The Outsiders Project is a collaborative effort between Centennial Middle School students and NC State pre-service teachers. During this project senior and junior NC State students come to Centennial to work with middle school students. All who are involved read the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hilton. During our time together, we formed relationships, discussed the novel, discussed literary elements found in the novel, and created a music video that represented the novel. Each group was assigned a song created about the novel. It was our responsibility to show knowledge of the novel and the literary devices through our music video performance. Another senior and I created lesson plans and guided the group collaboratively. We were able to work together to create the products you see below.

The Outsiders Project Products
Here, you will see several artifacts that represent my collaborative work during The Outsiders Project. The first picture you see, on the left hand side, is a picture of our group after our performance. Our group was made up of another senior and myself, two NC State juniors, and four middle school students. In this photo, we were excited about finishing our final performance. Below the group photo, is a picture of some of the props we created for our video. NC State students and Centennial students worked together to create props for our video. We believe that the props we created helped us portray the novel in our music video. Below, is a copy of our music video. We worked collaboratively to choreograph and preform our video. We are all very proud of what we created!
